The Squeezed Church

FS 2016 Oh' Lord

A strategy to preserve Zürich’s ecclesial structures, while taking into account their shrinking congregations and maintenance budgets. Taking Johanneskirche as a prototype, the slow contraction of the central worship space allows for the insertion of revenue-generating program in its residual poché. The structural palimpsest becomes a unique feature.
